Valentines Ideas with a bit of a difference.

We keep hearing a lot of people in couples, especially in long-term relationships, speaking about the difficulties of finding gift ideas for partners when it comes to Valentines Day. How do you introduce something new to a relationship?

Do you have a yearning to try something new in your relationship but don’t know how to go about it? Maybe there was something you liked or did before you got together with your partner, which you miss, and think there is room for it in your relationship.

This is a question we get asked a lot since we have started our blog but the ’something new’ can be varying things from sex toys, bondage, a fetish or even another person. Most of the situations we have given the same advice communication and openness is the key, and maybe the odd glass of wine.

Interestingly, in 90% of these situations it’s been women who have asked us this question and asked us how they go about trying introducing different things. As far it goes with women asking we find this interesting as the society ‘norm’ is that its men who want to try new things or introduce things especially when it comes to adding more people.

Another reoccurring theme during these discussions, we have with people, is that between the couple they have private jokes or little looks at each other when these things are broached or joked about. They then go on further to explain that they are pretty sure their partner is thinking the same thing about said subject.

“Recently a woman got in touch with us to say how she had this thing for wanting to swap underwear with her husband when they go off to work for the day. She used to wear guys underwear and then give it back to them at the end of the day as a naughty treat. She said that it was something that had never come up in their relationship but had a good sex life. Ice Breakers

The advice we give is that communication is the key if you already have an inclining a partner may want to try something, and so do you, talking about it is the way forward. Although this is easier said than done we have found some great ways to break the ice with a couple of games over a glass of wine, usually on a Friday evening was when we chose for some reason.

We have read about these exercises in different places and have changed to suit the situations or have created them ourselves, some couples may find not all the exercises are for them. However, most couples always find at least one is a great way to open up discussions on subjects they want to talk to each other about.

The most important thing before all of these is setting the rules; tell your partner you want an open and frank discussion about some sexy things and have a fun game to play.

This is great for those times you want to share something with you partner but not sure how to go about it.

• Firstly decide on how many topics you would like to talk about, such as 3 each.

• Fold up each piece and place them in a bowl.
• Decide who wants to go first.
• The first person then takes a piece of paper out of the bowl and reads it out.

• That person is allowed to speak uninterrupted for 10 minutes. This may sound difficult but when the pressure is on to get the subject out it may not be long enough.

• Once you have spoken enough about the subject the next partner draws a piece of paper from the bowl.

Whats great about this is you can have a really great evenings discussion with each other, even into the early hours, and come out feeling closer & happier with your relationship.

Lustful Lists

This game is for perfect for pushing your partner, and yourself, into pin pointing what things make each other tick and what things you would like to experiment with.

• Each partner needs a notepad and a pen.
• Each partner writes a question on the top of the notepad paper for the other person, without letting the other one see. For Example, ‘Sexy Role play scenarios you would like to try?’ or ‘Places you would like to have sex?’

• Then swap notepads
• You then have as long as you need, or can set a time of say 2 minutes, for you to answer the question.

In an evening you will probably get through a lots of questions and answers and reveal a lot about each other but also discover intimate details too.

Furthermore, you could also use the number to create a list which the other person has to put in order of favourite items.

A few months ago we blogged about something that we had heard about that excited us greatly. One of the largest online adult sex toy stores sextoys.co.uk dropped a nugget of information on a twitter update which hinted at community based site called ‘The Vibe’.

If you are a member of any of the popular social networking places out there a lot of there, of even briefly ventured onto one, a lot of the features will immediately be familiar to you. The initial landing page, or homepage is interesting, giving you tips and advice on sex, relationships, buyers guide and lots of content for you to peruse. Once you sign up though you will find a whole host of features including your very own wall where you can post and share your favourite links, photos, music and the like of your own or from around the web. It also gives you the social network standard of being able to update your status and give the ability to the world what you are doing every minute of the days. Furthermore, if you want to you can also start your very own fully functioning blog where you can share your thoughts, in an adult sex friendly environment.

Navigation, and finding your way around the site is pretty clear for example clicking on the ‘people’ button will open up all the way of finding others which then leads to being able to become friends with them, send them greetings and messages with the further functions of being able to write on their walls. Behind further buttons you will find a collection of the latest adult related news, articles, and buyers guides all supported by an archive of past installments. It’s like having an online issue of Cosmopolitan or Scarlet with the full back up of older issues.

All of this is fully backed up with a forum which gives you the chance to comment and discuss all the content added to the site or subjects you want to raise yourself. This is gives you a great opportunity to find, and befriend, like minded people in an easy way compared to most social networks sites that rely on you finding people you used to know many moons ago, or the social networking dilemma of do you or do you not accept grannies friend request.

It’s not just the fact the The Vibe has these features but also how they have been implemented that make it a great site. For us its always the little things that really show how much thought and planning has gone into these sites. With that in mind you can see that the people behind The Vibe have really wanted to make like-minded people to like-minded people interaction the most important thing. You will all be familiar with  the facebook toolbar that appears at the bottom of the screen The Vibe also implements this and takes it one step further. As well as the usual friends online count feature it also includes a message feature which also gives you a count of unopened messages along with the ability to open them right from the toolbar.

All these are also supported with an overlay pop up which alerts you to new messages, friends requests or when a friend comes online. Which we personally think it  is a fantastic feature it maybe be small but as we said its the small things that really go a long way; and something the big social networks could learn from. The other small feature that gave that well thought out feeling, and others could learn from, was the ability to create an account for couples this is a fantastic touch.

The toolbar also gives you shortcut buttons to all your profile functions including the ability to change your status message or online presence or even take you to your dashboard or change your settings. All these features make the toolbar a really useful and worth addition to the layout and function to the site. Yes the cynics and web geeks could complain that this could just be a copy of the buttons at the top of the page. However, I would say its better to have lots of options to get through to the page you want and not spending half an hour looking for the right place, which a lot of social networks are guilty of.

However, there are a couple of concerns mainly the sign up process which felt a little over elaborate and slightly to intrusive for such an early introduction to the site. Personally with these things people aren’t going to be willing to hand out lots of information before they are seeing exactly what they are getting. It would just serve a better purpose if some of the fields in the sign-up could be left until later and feel the over complicatedness may put some people off completing the sigh up process. Another addition which would be helpful is a little overlay tutorial for when you first sign in because although we are used to most of these features I think the amount customisation and features are a little daunting at first.

We have come a long way in networking since the days when Friends Reunited ruled the 56k connections and there are many things that have become standard in social sites. However, what is impressive about ‘The Vibe’ is that they have managed to get the feel, look and features of a large social site from the beginning. In some cases they have even managed to improve where these leading social sites have failed and this has been achieved by not over thinking, as such, not over complicating the site. Overthinking and over complicating social networking has been and still is the the bane and downfall of larger sites.

‘The Vibe’ sees sextoys.co.uk bringing a fresh clean fully functional  uncomplicated social networking site that finally caters as a place for the open minded, kinksters and deviants to join together and openy discuss all kinds of adult subjects you wouldn’t get way with talking about on other social networks, let alone in real life!

Independent Review: Doc Johnson – Throbbing Hearts Vibrator

Playing With the Queen of Hearts

For us Doc Johnson has always be the 1st name in sex toys so when we heard they have released the worlds first throbbing rabbit styled vibrator using ground breaking new technology we knew we would have to give it a review. In our first independent review we hope to find if Doc Johnsons new vibrator gets more than just hearts throbbing.

…Now for the science bit.

Lets face it rabbits have become the staple sex toy, the one every woman must have! But personally we think this has made the rabbit toy market a bit stagnant with every new one just a rehash of previous model. So we were excited to here Doc Johnson have tried to do something different and bring some new to the Rabbit vibrator line. Doc Johnsons ground breaking new Throbbing Hearts Vibrator claims to expand and contract with your own body’s movements. On top of this it is packed full of the usual features you want in a Rabbit sex toy, including 3 different speed setting, 7 function bullet vibrator it’s also Phthalate free, made out of TPE, but most importantly it’s waterproof. It takes 4 ‘AAA’ batteries and has an easy to load battery system.

Whats Up Doc?

Out of the box, which is a great box it has to be said. The design and colours really brings it in-line with the image its portraying as ‘ground breaking’. Although we do have a soft spot for sex toy packaging, that much so we could start a collection. Usually Doc Johnson is our favourite packing as it usually involves colours, graphics, designs and especially models that have been put together in the late 80’s and gives us a chuckle that they still use them today. However, it was nice to see Doc Johnson go for a more modern sleeker design, and also not go down the horrendous moulded plastic wrist cutting packaging which is in favour everywhere now.

Anyway where was I, out of the box the first thing you will notice is the tip of the Throbbing Hearts Vibrator is actually cone shaped, which is a refreshing change from the penis shaped rabbits which have become common place. This makes it feel really nice during penetration and easy to insert when you are caught up in the heat of the moment.

Getting to the end of the day I sometimes like to use toys to help break the stresses and strains of the working day, sometimes in the bath or just sometimes in bed. This time was going to be the bedroom and some scented candles especially as this was the first time of using it.

Undressed on the bed, with the lights off and smell of the candles filling the room I got myself acquainted with the controls. Sometimes they can be quite complicated on rabbit vibrators and even more confusing as your in the final throws and looking for extra speed only to realise you have turned it off and it brings you crashing down.

However Doc Johnson have created a simple clear button control panel, on Throbbing Hearts, just 4 buttons, 2 control the main shaft, 1 turns the bullet on and off. The final button controls the 7 function feature which allows you to cycle each pattern through a single button press. Further more to this there is lighting on the control panel which after a few presses you soon learn that they indicate not only the pattern of the function put also power with green being slowest, amber medium and red the most powerful.

Beating Heart Baby…

Now I was more au fait with the controls I lay back and slowly pressed the cone tip to my lips. The cone is tipped with a dome so finding the right place for it to enter was a lot easier compared to other rabbit vibrators and also rather pleasurable. As it was easy to insert and found myself lying back just removing and re-inserting it over and over again to enjoy the feeling. All of a sudden I found myself very turned on and relaxed just from this movement. Having done it a few times I also found there was a ridge the bottom of the cone which wasn’t noticeable by sight but was by the touch on my lips.

Sliding the shaft deeper inside me I felt the ridges that lie along the shaft tingle my lips as they passed by. The throbbing hearts vibrator does give you quite a bit of length allowing to push this as deep or shallow as you want and still get the same feeling right the way through the vibrator. The girth of it was smaller the the usual Vibrators but as soon as I turned the shaft on I realised why.

The Vibrator has to be smaller in width to accommodate the fantastic expanding and contracting motions which really do feel exquisite. The motion of the shaft along with the ribbing just made every millimetre of me tingle inside. The feeling was amazing and was the most thorough Rabbit Vibrator I had ever felt with powerful accurate movements. What I really enjoyed was the the little ‘give’ (or should that be big) it really did feel like it was responding to my vagina. Most Vibrators I have used are very hard and rigid, which is always nice to have such between your legs. However, it was fantastic to feel something different for a change something deep and intense something that I had not felt with other Rabbit sex toys.

I was now hitting that glorious peek where you Plato but also need something else so I pushed the button labelled bullet. Feeling the sudden surge against my clitoris my vulva tingled and an orgasm shot through my body. The clitoral stimulator on the Throbbing Hearts is very powerful and the reason for this is that the bullet vibe is housed directly in the ‘ears’ that rest on your clitoris. This is different than the usual rabbit vibrators which house the bullet in the main shaft and serves both shaft and ‘ears’.

The ‘give’ I was referring to earlier proved important, now the bullet vibe was on, as it allowed me to control the pressure of the clitoral stimulator whilst still being comfortable inside me. The only downside to the bullet was there was personally to much movement in it. When I wanted to push down and have a bit more pressure there wouldn’t be enough rigidness in the housing of the bullet to give me what I needed. This was only a minor downside though which I probably think was designed like that to accommodate the power of the vibe.

Cum Rabbit, Cum Rabbit, Cum! Cum! Cum!

Just as another orgasm swept over my body I decided to activate the 7 function buttons to see if they delivered what they promised. Cycling through each different style of vibrations I was again taken by surprise not by just the powerfulness of the functions or the greatly varying cycles but also by differentiation between the strengths and patterns.

With most of my past rabbit vibrators I have found the function button rather lacking not showing to much difference between speeds or power. Doc Johnson have done exceptionally well in giving different precise changes not only to the three speeds but to the pattern too meaning you really feel like you are getting 7 functions.

The function I settled on was the shaft increasing through the speeds quickly while the bullet does the same. The whole experience was deep and fulfilling. As anyone women will know with vibrators, especially of that rabbit variety, you can virtually be as greedy as you like. You can virtually pick and choose the amount of orgasms and when you want to come.

However, with the Throbbing Hearts I found the whole experience new and a nice element of surprise to the whole masturbation experience. rather more out of my control my orgasmic peaks where seeming to be hard pushed. Instead of resisting the urges, and trying to control the number of orgasms, I decided to just give in and let myself go. After a few nice surprises with this toy the last and biggest one was yet to happen. As I sunk back and let the orgasmic climax’s wash right over me and as I orgasmed for the last time I was shocked to feel myself squirt. I have never squirted with a rabbit vibrator before only Charlie or my glass dildos have managed to provide the elusive female ejaculation.

Finally, sinking onto the bed in post orgasmic chill I felt amazing and also rather pleased with myself over what had just happened. I was also rather chuffed and fond of my new multi orgasmic, earth shuddering, squirt making Throbbing Heart.

The Sex Glow Summary

I must admit when I first read about the Throbbing Hearts Vibrator with its ‘ground breaking’ claims I was slightly cynical. However when I realised that Doc Johnson was behind it I was then tantalised by the fact these claims could be true. Fantastically they did and turn out to be a whole lot more.

However, there are a couple of complaints to get out the way but they are only a few niggles. Firstly the 4 ‘AAA’ batteries used to power this masturbating beast means its going to struggle over time and inevitably eat batteries. After only a couple of uses the first set of Duracell are already starting to slow during penetration. The second small niggle is the clitoral stimulator has just slightly to much give in it and not enough pressure. Although this may suit some people who will find it more user friendly considering such a powerful bullet vibrator.

Overall, the build of Doc Johnson’s Throbbing Hearts is really fantastic and the usual standards you will find in most of their products you will find here. Doc Johnson haven’t just thought about making a Rabbit Vibrator and copied everyone else they have truly tried to reinvent the technology. Another positive about the throbbing shaft is it’s not been done in the usual ‘rabbit’ way of using balls or rings of balls which in the long run just mush up and become useless.

Furthermore, the positioning of the buttons and controls just for some reason seem to be placed in the right way as to not get in the way during those critical moments.

The design of the rabbit is also something to enjoy available in pink, not a dayglo pink, but more of a toned down pink with hearts emblazoned on the side. Just to further confirm and give confidence to your purchase they have also finished it off with a Doc Johnson stamp on the underside.

Their is something that I didn’t realise during my testing time, and was only a second thought afterwards, was that it was very quiet, a lot more quiet than my other vibrators. You hear the sounds of the mechanics in the shaft of the rabbit. Furthermore, the sound of the bullet vibe is hardly noticeable at all which is surprising considering it housed outside the main shaft.

In conclusion this is definitely going to be the vibrator I keep in my bedside table draw ready to hand when the moment arises. If like me you have become a bit bored with the Rabbit vibrators on the market and now purchase a new one, virtually without looking, the Throbbing Hearts is going to feel like a breath of fresh-air, and a whole lot more. As a side note I would not recommend this as a first time vibrator or to someone looking to dip their toe in the rabbit vibrator section of their favourite store. Even tho the size is good for a womans first there is just far to much going on and feel it would be to intense and possibly scare of someone new.

I cannot wait till the next time and hopefully try it out in the the bath or shower. Until then I can feel safe in the knowledge that I have found a Vibrator that will keep more than just my heart throbbing for a long while to come.
